Support & FAQ

Everything you need to plan a well-timed walk.

Getting Started

What does Beach Walk include?

Beach Walk covers 63 Queensland beaches across 7 regions with tide data, weather, sunrise/sunset, weekly planning, favourites, alerts, and nearby places.

How do I browse beaches?

Use Home to open a region, then tap a beach card. You can also use Search to find beaches by name or tide station.

Tides, Weather & Planning

How accurate is the tide data?

Tide predictions are official Bureau of Meteorology data published as open data by Maritime Safety Queensland, bundled with the app so they work even offline. Beach Walk also calculates real-time tide heights between high and low tide events. Weather, wind, and moon data comes from Apple Weather.

How do I use TODAY, TOMORROW, and 7 DAYS?

Switch tabs inside beach detail to move between daily conditions and weekly summaries. The 7-day view includes tide highs and lows, sunrise/sunset, and moon data.

How do I switch the 7-day tide summary between cards and a list?

Use the small icon switcher in the 7 DAY TIDE SUMMARY header, or swipe sideways across the summary. The visual cards show the tide curve, moon phase, and daylight for each day — and Beach Walk remembers your preferred view.

Why don't I always see a walking recommendation?

Recommendations are filtered to safer daylight windows around low tide. If conditions are unsuitable, recommendations may be limited or unavailable.

What is Sun & Sky?

In the 7-day view, open the Sun & Sky info sheet for beach-specific daylight stories and regional daylight context.

Alerts, Favourites & Settings

How do I set tide alerts?

In beach detail, toggle alerts on individual tide events. Set your preferred lead time in Settings > App Preferences > Notification Times.

What do the favourites icons mean?

A star marks your default launch beach. An orange bell means a low-tide alert is active, a blue bell means a high-tide alert is active, and a heart means the beach is saved as a favourite.

Can I pause all tide alerts at once?

Yes. The Beach Walk Alerts switch in Settings > App Preferences pauses or resumes all tide notifications. Your saved alert selections are kept while paused and re-scheduled automatically when you resume.

How do I set a default beach or change units?

Go to Settings > App Preferences to set a Default Beach and toggle Imperial Units.

How do I remove ads?

Support Beach Walk in Settings is a one-time purchase that removes ads. Use Restore Purchases to bring it back on a new device signed in with the same Apple Account.

Nearby Places & Region Stories

How does Nearby Places work?

Nearby Places appears in beach detail (Today/Tomorrow) and looks for food and cafe options within 1.5 km. Tap a row to expand the map and open directions.

Where do I find Region Stories?

Tap the Region Story chip at the top of a region's beach list, or the story banners above and below the list. Each story covers the region's history and highlights, with quick navigation between sections. They are also available in Settings > Help & Support > Region Info Sheets.

Troubleshooting

Notifications are not arriving

First check that the Beach Walk Alerts switch in Settings > App Preferences is on, then check iOS Settings > Beach Walk > Notifications, your in-app alert timing, and the enabled tide-event toggles.

Does the app work offline?

Tide times work offline — official tide predictions are bundled with the app. Weather, moon data, and nearby places need an internet connection. Your favourites and settings stay stored on your device.
