What We Collect
Beach Walk collects minimal data to run core app features:
- • Favourite beaches (stored on your device)
- • Notification preferences and alert timing
- • Unit preference (metric / imperial)
- • Advertising-related device interaction data for non-personalised ads
What We Don't Collect
We do not collect personal identity information or precise user location tracking data.
Tide Data On Your Device
Tide predictions are official Bureau of Meteorology data published as open data by Maritime Safety Queensland (© State of Queensland, CC BY 4.0). They are bundled with the app, so tide lookups happen on your device — no tide request is sent anywhere.
Third-Party Services
Beach Walk uses third-party services to provide app functionality. Only beach coordinates are sent for data requests:
- • Apple Weather (WeatherKit) — weather, wind and moon data
- • Sunrise-Sunset.org — daylight information
- • Google Places — nearby places
- • Google AdMob — advertising
- • Queensland Government open data portal — annual tide prediction updates
Advertising
Beach Walk uses contextual advertising through Google AdMob:
- • Non-personalised ad configuration
- • No cross-app tracking configuration by Beach Walk
- • Ad delivery based on contextual app content
