Effective September 2026
The short version: BC Connect is free to download and use on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and there are no in-app purchases. Where a building runs BC Connect, its body corporate takes out a subscription that is arranged and billed separately on the web — not through the app stores. Use the app as a member of a body corporate community, and it stays the property of Chris Nagy.
BC Connect is operated by Butterfly Bombarby ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the BC Connect app or website, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully — if you don't agree, please don't use BC Connect.
BC Connect is free to download and use on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is run by body corporate committees to keep lot owners informed, so it is used by committee members and by the owners, residents and other members of a body corporate community. There are no in-app purchases, and no prices are shown or charged inside the app.
BC Connect is offered as a subscription to a body corporate (the organisation of all lot owners), not to individual users. Each subscription covers one building and is taken out and paid for by that building's body corporate — usually through its committee, from the administrative fund.
These subscriptions are arranged and billed on the web through our payment provider, Stripe — not through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and not as an in-app purchase. Downloading and using the app stays free for everyone. If a body corporate's subscription falls behind, that affects the committee's ability to publish new content rather than a lot owner's ability to read what has already been shared with them. Cancelling a subscription outright is different, and is covered below.
New buildings start with a 60-day free pilot. It costs nothing, we don't ask for card details to begin one, and there is no obligation to continue. We may close the pilot offer once our first ten Queensland buildings have taken it up; if we do, we will say so on our pricing page before your committee signs up. If your committee decides not to go on at the end of a pilot, simply tell us — nothing is charged, and because we invoice rather than hold a card, nothing can ever be charged automatically.
Your first paid year is guaranteed. If your body corporate cancels at any time during its first year on a paid annual subscription, we will refund the unused part of what it paid. We work that out in whole months, counting from the end of the month in which your committee tells us it is cancelling, and we pay it back to the account the subscription was paid from, normally within 14 days. You do not need to give a reason.
A refund ends the subscription. It refunds service your building has not used — it is not a purchase of the app, and it does not leave your building with continued access.
To cancel, any member of your committee just needs to contact us. After that first year, a subscription can be cancelled at any time and will run to the end of the period already paid for; the refund guarantee applies to the first year only. If your building pays monthly rather than yearly, it can stop at any time and will not be billed again.
When a subscription ends — whether your body corporate cancels, takes a refund, or chooses not to renew — access to BC Connect ends for that building, and it ends for everyone in it: committee members, owners and residents alike. There is no continuing read-only copy.
Your building's information stays yours. Before access ends we will give your committee that information in a usable form at no charge, and we will hold a copy for 30 days afterwards in case it is needed again, after which we delete it. You can ask us to export or delete it at any time.
Falling behind on payment is treated differently from cancelling. If an invoice is unpaid or a renewal is simply late, we pause your committee's ability to publish new content but leave your owners able to read what has already been shared with them, so that a missed payment never cuts off the people your committee has been keeping informed.
These arrangements are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing here limits or replaces them.
BC Connect initially serves members of Queensland body corporate communities, used for that community's purposes. Access is controlled by your committee: they decide who joins your building and what each member can see. When you use BC Connect you agree to:
You are responsible for the content you post. Committees are responsible for managing their building's membership and the information they choose to share with their owners.
BC Connect — including its software, design, content and imagery — is the property of Chris Nagy and is protected by copyright. Using the app doesn't transfer any of those rights to you. The information your committee and members add to your building stays yours; you simply give us permission to store and display it so we can run the service for you.
BC Connect supports communication alongside the appointed strata manager. It must never interfere with or replace the manager’s proper responsibilities, and it doesn't provide legal, financial or professional advice — it doesn't replace your body corporate's official records or its strata or building manager. Decisions about your body corporate remain the committee's and owners' own.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Butterfly Bombarby is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, BC Connect. Nothing in these terms excludes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any dispute relating to BC Connect will be handled by the courts of Queensland.
We may update these terms from time to time; the current version will always be posted at this address, and continuing to use BC Connect means you accept the update. Questions? Contact us.
